Apr 12, 2007

Litchfield, Illinois (April 12, 2007) – Schutt Sports — The largest provider of football helmets and faceguards in the world — announced today that New York Giants Quarterback Eli Manning has signed a three-year agreement to serve as spokesperson and consultant with the company. Financial terms were not announced.

“I am very excited to join Team Schutt as it continues to push technology in equipment to the next level,” Manning said. “The Schutt helmet has an incredible tradition of research and innovative design, using the newest materials available to help prevent head injuries. I look forward to assisting Schutt in a product advisory capacity as well as working to promote the company, its products and its commitment to the game to the widest possible audience.”

Schutt  President Eric Ashleman said, “We are thrilled to have Eli Manning join the Schutt team. Schutt has introduced many of football’s most important advances in equipment and we look for Eli to play an important role as we deliver the next generation of helmets borne of evolving concussion research.”

Schutt Sports will also be involved as a sponsor of the Manning Passing Academy.

“We believe Schutt will gain share at an accelerated rate because we have the best helmet technology available in the DNA PRO,” Ashleman added. “Players love the comfort, equipment managers love it because it is the easiest helmet to fit and trainers love the consistent protection of our exclusive SKYDEX technology."

Manning, 26, returned to the Schutt helmet for the 2006 season after being encouraged to wear a competitor’s product in 2005.

“I had worn a Schutt helmet while at Ole Miss as well as in my rookie season with the Giants,” Manning said. “I was asked to try a competitor’s product in 2005, but I was not satisfied. I was happy to return to a helmet that was extremely comfortable and manufactured by a company that is synonymous with research and innovation.”

Three of every four players in the National Football League® take the field with a Schutt product and twelve of the last 16 Heisman Trophy winners wore Schutt helmets. Serious players ask for Schutt more and more.
