Dominant West Coast Sales Force Moves Into Midwest for First Time

 

Schutt Sports, Inc. is entrusting one of the most important football regions of the country to a sales organization that has driven tremendous sales growth on the West Coast for the past 17 years. Tim Maloney Sales, an organization that has focused on the 13 western states, will take its first steps eastward and assume responsibility for the Midwest Region of the country, effective immediately.

The Midwest Region boasts five of the top ten football-playing states in the country and Schutt wanted to ensure it covered that area with the very best lineup.

"With states like Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin, we couldn't afford to leave any business on the table," says Kip Meyer, Vice President/General Manager of Schutt Sports. "The Tim Maloney Sales group has proven over the past 17 years that they're capable of driving significant business growth, opening up new markets and taking care of existing customers."

Tim Maloney Sales is in the process of increasing their sales force to tackle the added responsibility of covering the Midwest. According to Tim Maloney, president, "coverage" is a key factor in this new deal.

"Without a doubt, we can cover the Midwest for Schutt better than it's ever been covered before," says Maloney. "Our guys know how to manage a territory and work with the Team Dealers in that territory. Our goal is to work with the team dealers and over-deliver to the schools and organizations in their areas. There are tremendous team dealers in that area and we're really looking forward to working with them."

Even though Maloney is looking forward to the tremendous challenges ahead, he knows there will be some uncertainty surrounding the move.

"I'm sure there are dealers and schools wondering about this move," says Maloney. "Every time something changes, there's always the fear of the unknown. We actually feel that it, as well. After all, we've never ventured into the Midwest before and I'm sure our dealers and schools will help us along the way. When all is said and done, we all have the same goal: putting more players and athletes in the best equipment in the marketplace."

Tim Maloney Sales has worked the western third of the country since 1971, with Tim Maloney taking over in 1991. Since then, his group has proven to be an important part of the sales plan for Schutt Sports, driving an increase in marketshare across the board.

"Tim's group has performed very well for Schutt Sports," says Meyer. "We're confident they'll bring that same success and professionalism to the Midwest. We're excited about this move and we know our customers will love working with his organization."

Schutt Sports has seen double-digit growth in the first two quarters of 2008 and they're hoping to take advantage of the next football buying season with Tim Maloney Sales firmly entrenched in their new Midwestern territory.
