First introduced in 2004, superior to traditional foam padding. It features better impact absorption, better heat management and better hygienics. It's highly resistant to mold, mildew, fungus and bacteria, while providing a barrier against MRSA and staph concerns.
TPU Cushioning System
We introduced Thermoplastic Urethane (TPU) Cushioning to football in 2003, with the advent of the DNA Pro. Six years later, now in its third generation, TPU Cushioning remains the best performing padding system in football today. In game-like conditions, the Youth DNA Pro+ outperform all the other helmets on the field. It’s proven superior to traditional foam padding in game-like conditions: better impact absorption, better heat management and better hygienics. TPU Cushioning won’t take a compression set, won’t break down (even after thousands of impacts) and is resistant to mold, mildew, fungus and bacteria while providing a barrier against MRSA and staph concerns.
Meets NOCSAE Standards
WARNING: Keep your head up. Do not butt, ram, spear, or strike an opponent with any part of this helmet or faceguard. This is a violation of football rules and may cause you to suffer severe brain or neck injury, including paralysis or death and possible injury to your opponent. Contact in football may result in Concussion/Brain injury which no helmet can prevent. Symptoms include: loss of consciousness or memory, dizziness, headache, nausea, or confusion. If you have symptoms, immediately stop and report them to your coach, trainer, and parents. Do not return to a game or contact until all symptoms are gone and you receive medical clearance. Ignoring this warning may lead to another and more serious or fatal brain injury. NO HELMET SYSTEM CAN PROTECT YOU FROM SERIOUS BRAIN AND/OR NECK INJURIES INCLUDING PARALYSIS OR DEATH. TO AVOID THESE RISKS, DO NOT ENGAGE IN THE SPORT OF FOOTBALL.
Better Impact Absorption
In game-like conditions, when the temperature inside your helmet can rise in excess of 115°, the performance of TPU Cushioning remains consistent. Traditional foam padding, on the other hand, performs worse. And adaptive, air-filled pockets?
Better Heat Management
Keeping cool and fresh on the field is at the top of every player’s list. The open-air sides of TPU Cushioning, along with the channels weaving in and out throughout the cushion, do a great job of circulating air throughout the interior of the helmet. Traditional foam padding, however, is like wrapping a blanket of insulation around your head. Restrictive black bonnets don’t do very much for keeping you cool either.
Better Hygienics
TPU Cushioning is virtually impervious to mold, mildew, fungus and bacteria. Traditional foam padding, on the other hand, can be a breeding ground for all kinds of nasty stuff. No matter how well you maintain helmets with foam padding, they can become infested and need to be replaced. With the TPU Cushioning in your helmet, that’s no longer a concern.
Better Resiliency
Unlike traditional foam padding, TPU Cushioning is ready to wear (comfortably) right out of the box. There’s no breaking-in period, like you have with foam. TPU Cushioning doesn’t take a compression set like traditional foam padding. Nor does TPU break down like foam – even after thousands of impacts.

Q: What is the difference between the Varsity DNA Pro+ and the Youth DNA Pro +?
A: The Varsity DNA Pro+ is specifically designed for the varsity player; it’s made of a durable Polycarbonate shell that withstands more force. It comes equipped with 7/8” jaw pads to accommodate most varsity players (other sizes available). It also features a varsity soft cup chin strap that is designed to fit older, bigger players.
The Youth DNA Pro+ is specifically designed for the youth player; it’s made of a durable ABS shell that’s lighter weight than the varsity model. It comes equipped with 1 1/8” jaw pads that are thicker in size to accommodate the smaller and thinner face of youth athletes. It also features a youth soft cup chin strap with longer straps; the youth cup is smaller and is designed to fit younger, smaller players while the longer straps work to bring the chin strap directly on the chin – closer to the face providing a secure fit.

A. The solvents contained within the permanent marker are mostly alcohol based, and flash off immediately. Writing a person's name with a "Sharpie" brand permanent marker will not void the warranty on our batter's shells.
